Our theme is “Building a Beloved Community”. “Beloved Community” is a vision of a society where justice, love, and equality prevail, popularized by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Our guest speaker is Rev. Dr. Adrian Nelson II, the pastor of Lomax African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church and a Dr. King Scholar.

Creating connections in this relaxed setting is a great way to end your business day. This national holiday aims to transform Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s teachings into individual and community action, working towards his vision of a beloved community. Volunteer Arlington honors this day by connecting individuals of all ages across Arlington and Northern Virginia to engage in meaningful service. Join us for a variety of service projects on Monday, January 19, 2026, with an opening program at Washington-Liberty High School.
