Lemoncello Boutique

Lemoncello Boutique is located in the center of the historic Lee Heights Shopping Center, home to several of the corridor’s legacy businesses. Originally opened by the previous owner, Sally Prince, as Lemon Twist in 1993, the shop has consistently focused on offering a unique selection of apparel, gifts, and children’s products. The Kahle family bought the store in 2016, looking for a small business away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The family strove to keep the same concept for the store with just a minor facelift. They also wanted to keep the name familiar with a slight twist. Hinting at the family’s Italian roots, they named it Lemoncello.

Nicole Kahle is the co-owner, manager, and buyer for Lemoncello. She runs the store with her best friend, Maria Cochrane, along with her mother and father, who both help out in the store. With Nicole and Maria as buyers, the store has gained a reputation among locals for its distinctive gifts and apparel. In an era of online shopping and mega stores, Lemoncello is a pleasant throwback to the main street era. Nicole says they get a lot of neighborhood traffic, with neighbors walking in after getting coffee next door or while out walking their dogs. They also had a brief fifteen minutes of fame when they were featured on a Real Housewives of Potomac episode a few years back. Luckily, no shouting matches occurred, and no tables were overturned.

Lemoncello is truly a family-owned and run neighborhood business. Nicole thinks that customers and locals really appreciate that in this day and age. She is proud to have created a shop where regulars and visitors alike can come in, browse, chat, and feel comfortable. Nicole also knows that legacy businesses like hers have deep ties in the community. They are the ones who know the heart of the community and want to give back to it, supporting the local economy, school teams, and local charities. She is proud to have that role and looks forward to continuing it.
